Dinner at Dragon Pheonix Restaurant
>> Monday, July 17, 2006
Yesterday, i had the great honour to have dinner at Liang Court, and I finished the meal without knowing what the event was. so guess what kind of food Dragon Pheonix Restaurant 龙凤酒楼 serves? Japanese? French? Western?..
Duh, its chinese food. What an orbit name -.-
There was 12 of us of which I only know half of them. Me and my relatives were basically just there to 吃大餐.. lol. i dun even noe the host who i heard won like 1.8million from who knows wat.
We sat in the guestroom and was served by the manager. Even the plates was nice, painted with chiobus from the olden days.
oh wow.!
It must had been a pleasure for the 皇帝皇后公子公主 to enjoy their meal on such delicately hand-made plates with paintings embroidered. And i got the chance to enjoy how shiok it is too!
then i turned over..
hmm, made in 1988 and what?! "Artistic object. Precious metal pigments may be toxic. Do not use for eating." thank you lor. u write behind i really know. -.- me and my brother already put our food on it...
dammit, this is like swallowing a sweet and realising it says "do not swallow" on the wrapper, or divorcing with your wife and then she tells u that she has HIV.
so anyway that plate was just for 摆美 uses and the remaining dishes was served on another plate.
there was a total of 6 dishes, which one of them the 佛跳墙 consists of 3 subdishes. I forgot to take the photo for that big fat slab of abalone..
basically most of the food is this colour and taste like ginseng. i heard that the soup need to be prepared for 3 days for the ingredients to be succulent and soft and Q. Sucking in all the essence and flavour and making it soo delicious.
oh man, to which i only feel is a WASTE OF TIME!. lol. ya its made with topgrade ingredients and precise procedures, gathering all the acumen of chefs to prepare such an expensive dish. but it isnt that nice..
and why not leave the abalones and sharks alone? abalones are just lifeless little stone-like creatures that lives happily under the sea and we capture it to eat just because its taste a little better than chicken. and the sharks.. ya they eat people, but its so cruel to cut away the fins and throw it back to the ocean. maybe its meat tastes nice too?
I think some people are just ******* eating such stuff to show off their wealth. The 大人 there was like showing off how big their business is, how to hack at casinos, etc etc. i dunwan to be like that when i grow up.
fried tofu..
tasted ok.
fish.
tasted ok too. the fried fish was all bones.
lobster!
tada! then it was lobster! and everyone of us gets one!
so nice to look~
but so hard to cut~..
the lobster was so hard and difficult to eat that i gave up and ate the potato instead.
bird nest in almond soup
this was for desert and it was quite nice. but, cant u ppl leave the swallows alone? $*)#*)(#@(*)#@32!
anw, birdnest is good for skin, so i ate it all. :]
it wasnt cheap. it costed $1824.80 which means one person for about $150. urgh, i want tt money more..
so my overall comment is:
long waiting time (5-20 minutes for each dish), you could go shopping in between dishes. the meal lasted nearly 3 hours.
ok dishes. mcdonalds and kfc and marigold pudding (the 多一个多一个 one) taste better for the taste and chewiness.
go only when you struck lottery or meeting your in-laws.
we tompang some strangers car for half the journey, and continued home on lorry with another.
shaky~
haven sat behind a lorry for quite a long time. i remember when i was young and my grandparents was alive, we used to sit on my uncle's lorry, travelling everywhere. the wind was chilly but the feeling was great, and i din feel travel sick.
hmm, days of childhood... :)
home sweet home~
